Do you find yourself constantly searching for answers or trying to fill a void that you can’t explain? Do you ever start wondering how much time is spent doing this analysis? My DNA is designed to gain information, learn and continue learning. I love this about myself – my quest for knowledge keeps my life interesting and challenging. However; there comes a point when I have to stop and ask myself how much is enough? When do I stop searching and make a decision to ACT? For the person like me, this is a serious challenge. Being a new Halftimer, I find myself searching for the “next thing” or the “right path” that God has designed for me. I wonder if I miss His queues sometimes because I’m so wrapped up in the analysis and perhaps the mysticism instead of just acting on the information presented to me.
So what? Well, I’ve come to realize that I need to find that balance of investigation and action. Someone like me can easily become a practitioner of what I call Analysis Paralysis. This is a continuous loop of analysis that keeps the person wanting the next bit of information before acting or moving on. This can be exhausting and crippling especially to those who have made a decision to serve God on His journey. They can miss the event, the whisper, or the direction because time is wasted in questioning, gathering…searching.
Coming to Christ eliminated the need to continue looking for Divine answers – the search was a worth while period in my life but I do wish that I would have stopped searching for what was right in front of me all along so I could have spent that time in righteous service for Him instead of me. Hind site is 20/20 and no regrets BUT it is a lesson learned and worth sharing for those who might be stuck in the analysis paralysis cycle looking for divine answers that are already there. I recommend the book of James – it is a teaching of practical application and takes the mystery out of what it means to be a believer. Perhaps it’s more comfortable or more exciting to continue the mystery and the search for something else – it certainly takes effort to follow Christ. All that I can share here is my own testimony and that is only through Christ have I been truly healed and only through Him I have found my true power.
How do I know this? Because I now know what Jesus knew when he roamed the earth: (credit Diane Hale‘s teaching “Born to Serve” – visit her website @ www.uniquebydesign.org
- He knew where He came from – purely from God (not from earthly parents and the baggage that goes along with that)
- He Knew that He had all power/authority (truly the son of God)
- He knew where He was going (no doubts that He would return home)
Because of those 3 things:
- He had complete security without fear (He could truly LIVE)
- He had a total attitude of service (the only reason we are here)
- His actions always glorified God
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. ~ John 3:16
End of story – end of the search.
