Do you ever ask yourself this question to God, Where are we going? Do you ever ponder the mystery of His vision and think about what this all means? I certainly have at times.
Sometimes I wonder if He knows what we carry around on our backs and I wonder if He knows that we’re going in circles at times just trying our best to get through another day. I sit in my favorite spot and think about His great majesty, and I hope for a moment that He is watching my actions. Then I quickly remind myself that He knows everything about us, all of us.
Therein lies the great mystery of faith. According to Wikipedia, Faith is confidence or trust in a person or thing; or the observance of an obligation from loyalty; or fidelity to a person, promise, engagement; or a belief not based on proof. Putting our faith in something that we cannot see or touch is a tall order. Unless a solid relationship with God is built, faith will rest on shaky ground. When the tides rise, we might grow weary enough that it dismantles our faith.
Building faith is like developing a muscle. We all know how long it takes to build muscle and how long it takes to lose it. The best way to know where we are going is to focus on building our faith in God. The more we learn about Him and His vision, the Great Commission, (Matthew 2:16-20) the stronger our faith muscle will be during low tides and high tides.
He knows where we are going and He certainly knows the plans that He has made for us.
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” – Jeremiah 29:11
